Stopford has been successful in the ACTIVE Cup challenge, achieving the silver award in a closely fought competition.
Organised by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), the project management competition is run in collaboration with and hosted by the Cranfield School of Management.
Eight teams from across the industry, took part in the high-pressure project management competition over three days.
The competition simulates a construction project from concept to completion. The challenge was to deliver a high-tech environmental monitoring centre, along an industrialised stretch of South American river to a fixed price, while negotiating loans and working under intense time pressure.
The team were tasked with developing an execution strategy, implementing the ACTIVE (Achieving competitiveness through innovation and value enhancement) Principles of project management. As the competition progressed, they had to adapt and respond to changes and challenges thrown their way.
Shem Harper, Stopford Project Director, said, 'The competition tested the team’s ability to work together, communicate effectively, and make decisions under pressure.'
Heather Guanaria, Stopford Commercial Director, congratulated the team on their success and said that Stopford looks forward to taking part in future ACTIVE Cups.
