With activities across Europe, USA, Middle East and Asia Pacific, Stopford is one of the fastest growing energy and environmental consultancies in the UK.
Stopford’s origin’s date back to 1982, from a small family based business operated above a Chinese takeaway in Stockport from where our company takes its name. It is a little known fact that Stopford was the historic name given to Stockport and its Stopfordian population! The company was originally established as an engineering design house to support the requirements of ICI group companies. So up until the early noughties, wherever there was an ICI site you would find a Stopford office nearby. Since the demise of ICI, Stopford has been under the guidance of Stopford’s Managing Director Prith Rajendran, who joined the group in 1996. Stopford has significantly diversified its capabilities and portfolio to reflect the international energy and environment consultancy that you see today.
In 2008 saw Stopford set-up its Innovation and Environment Group, based at Lancaster University’s Environment Centre, to expand the front-end activity of the business and in 2013 Stopford secured £1million from The North West Fund to help drive forward its global expansion plans.
