Keele University has been named as a finalist in four Green Gown Awards categories which celebrate sustainability in higher education, including Sustainability Institution of the Year.
The shortlisted nominations are for the following categories:
- Sustainability Institution of the Year category
- Benefitting Society
- Research with Impact
- Sustainability Champion – Staff category
The ‘Benefitting Society’ category includes Keele University and Stopford’s collaboration on the Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND) Supply Chain Programme which endeavours to help hundreds of Staffordshire businesses enhance the environmental sustainability of operations, products, or services. Our work together has been a great success and has promoted low-carbon innovation to a great number of SMEs in the region.
Stopford have been offering 12 hours of free environmental and low-carbon consultancy to the surrounding businesses – from bespoke carbon emission calculations to advising on alternative energy sources and making operational processes more efficient. This support has helped businesses reduce their environmental impact, costs, and demonstrate their environmental commitment to clients and supply chains.
The SEND project has been an ambitious undertaking and was crucial to Keele University hitting the carbon neutral target by 2030. We wish Keele the best of luck in the competition as they are well deserved finalists!
