Numerous projects as front end process engineer, hazard study leader, project manager and project director. Managed the BASF contract from 2002. Responsible for Avecia Olympiad and Allergan projects, Kemira PAX, Falmouth, Total, Ghana, Vadeco. Involvement in Yorkshire Water Digester Safety Group and currently providing consultancy support to Calysta.

Varied research projects, ranging from development and testing of treatments for heavy metals contamination in a number of waste streams, to the development of a novel microwave plasma gasification system to treat waste and provide energy; Varied consultancy projects, including air quality assessments and environmental impact assessments across a range of industries.

What experience have you had whilst working with Stopford?
Project management; liaising with clients, suppliers, manufacturers and in-house departments, including civil, process, mechanical and design. On-site ATEX inspections, surveying of storage tanks, research and report writing for innovative waste-to-energy systems.

Attended various in-house training workshops. Site and show visits, support towards chartership.

What experience have you had whilst working with Stopford?
Varied projects doing process design, feasibility studies and safety studies. In the last six years work has concentrated more on doing fire assessments for petrol terminals and specifying fire protection equipment. Spent five years in a fine chemicals plant doing plant support and process sitings. This involved production of safety and environmental studies, IPP application, process and product validation and plant commissioning.

Completion of module Fire Risk assessment & Management and assisted a course in Fire Safety Design part of an MSc on Fire & Explosion Engineering by Leeds University. Attendance to various safety courses imparted by Zeneca Hazards Group

What experience have you had whilst working with Stopford?
Structural design of a large number of foundations and containment structures for existing and new build petrochemical installations. Structural analysis of existing structures in the chemical, petrochemical and water industry and designed new and remedial works. Also worked on land reclamation and waste to energy projects.

What CPD have you done since being at Stopford?
This has mainly consisted of participation in internal management courses and lunchtime presentations of products and services from within the civil engineering industry. I regularly attend ICE talks.

The Role

Stopford Energy and Environment is looking for a Junior Renewable Energy Consultant to be responsible for handling a portfolio of diverse projects and activities focussed on supporting renewable energy projects. They will execute a combination of desk and laboratory based green technology development projects as well as support consulting projects. The consultant will also support marketing and business development activities at Stopford.

The person in this position will report to the Principal Consultant who will identify and define their project priorities and deliverables. It will be the Consultant’s responsibility to effectively manage and deliver work packages and projects that have been assigned.

 

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree in chemical engineering, environmental science, environmental engineering, renewable energy or related graduate or post-graduate degree
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant industry
  • Highly developed analytical, presentation and reporting skills
  • Proven sector specialism (e.g. remediation, waste, renewable energy, planning or policy etc) and an ability to develop new business in this area
  • An ability to deliver innovative solutions into process technology, energy and environment sectors
  • Ability to influence and lead in a fast-paced and collaborative environment

The Role

Stopford Energy and Environment is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to supervise and carry out process engineering duties. These include proposals, projects and consultancy activities, working within agreed timescales and budgets so that the needs of the client are fully met, together with the business needs of the company.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • The capability to act as Lead Process Engineer to co-ordinate and control all process engineering aspects of the project. This includes supervision of other process engineers and control of the budget/manhours, be responsible for the process design – i.e. approve process engineering drawings (e.g. P&IDs) and process calculations.
  • demonstratable process engineering design skills – including development of P&IDs, process hydraulic calculations, process specification of main equipment items (e.g. pumps, tanks and instrumentation).
  • a track record in safety aspects of process design – including HAZOP attendance, pressure relief calculations, risk assessments and area classification.
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience in managing client relationships in a technical role.
  • Experience of risk assessments, HAZOP in team leader/chair, QRA, HAZAN & COSHH
  • Experience of working in similar service industry on multi-disciplined projects.
  • Petrochemical experience
  • A Chartered Member of IChemE
