Stopford’s development of a new Post-Graduate Certificate (PG-Cert) in Fuel and Energy Generation from Waste gathers pace - 7th June 2010
A recent steering group meeting held at Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC), brought together contributors from Orchid Environmental, The Environmental Sustainability KTN, AW Jenkinson, Viridor, United Utilities, Reaseheath College and the North West Universities Association, as well as project partners Stopford, Peak Associates and Lancaster University. These organisations are in good company - the course now boasts input from 20 different organisations with a strong NW bias.
Those attending the meeting welcomed a proposed structural change to the course which now features modules on Feedstocks & Technologies, Project Management and Environmental Management, thus broadening the course’s already considerable appeal. Course content was discussed in detail, and a framework for quality assurance and assessment was put in place. Potential additional contributors were also identified. Over the next few months, contributors will work on their individual presentations and assemble a portfolio of supplementary information, enabling registered students on the course to maximise their learning.
Marketing material, featuring logos of all contributing organisations is currently being prepared - it is anticipated that this will be ready in time for the Futuresource conference being held in London in mid-June. A website, containing a course outline, pen-profiles of all presenters plus registration information will be launched simultaneously.
There are still one-or-two slots available to contributors on the course; for example, we are currently looking for an experienced practitioner to present on the ‘management of gaseous emissions from energy from waste plants’ and would welcome expressions of interest in this area. For more information on this vacancy, or on any other aspect of the course, please direct all enquiries to Stopford’s course director, Sean Hayward, via: sean.hayward@stopford.co.uk
