Hazardous Waste Treatment Technology Development
Stopford Projects Ltd worked with a technology company to develop a proposal to the North West Development Agency (NWDA) under the Grants for R&D programme to validate a novel ultrasonic process for the encapsulation of paint waste from the automotive industry.
Stopford’s expert consultants investigated the logistical, economic, technological and environmental aspects of the project, culminating in the development of a robust technical, marketing and business model for the validation and commercialisation of the described technology. The consultancy project included:
- A study into the existing technologies for the treatment of paint waste
- Metals analysis to assess the chemical composition of automotive paint sludge
- Leachability studies to determine the robustness of the encapsulated product
- Development of a research agenda to optimise and validate the micro-encapsulation process for the treatment of paint waste
- Market research to assess the potential for the proposed technology and gaining letters of support from the paint manufacturing and automotive industry
- Development of the research proposal and advising on financing of the project
The project was successfully funded and Stopford are now acting as consultants to EncapsuWaste UK to assist the successful delivery of the project from an engineering and environmental standpoint.
