Post Title: Graduate Mechanical Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Mechanical
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To work as an individual or part of a team engineering and developing the best solution for our client’s needs. This will be both single discipline (mechanical) or as part of a multi-discipline (process, civils, piping, electrical, instruments & control) team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out mechanical engineering calculations such as pressure drops, pump sizing, heat transfer, HVAC etc. Leading to development of equipment datasheets, including checking and updating equipment schedules.
- Writing and developing specifications for pipes, equipment (pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, vessels etc) and valves together with checking mechanical data on instrument and process specifications.
- Writing Scope of Work documents for installation contractors including testing and painting specifications.
- Working with the plant layout and piping designers to develop site layouts and checking and reviewing designs. Also using AutoCAD to create designs and layouts for mechanical items.
- Working with piping engineers to review pipe stress and flexibility.
- Obtaining quotations, carrying out bid analysis for equipment, valves and installation contractors.
- Visiting client sites to carry out surveys, review job scopes and gather technical information.
- Liaising with other engineering disciplines (process, piping and layout, electrical, civil, instrument and control etc.)
- To demonstrate flexibility and customer focus, and to perform any other tasks which may be required in order to ensure the efficient operation of the Company.
- Where it is a requirement of the job for the job holder to use computers or other information technology, he/she will be required to ensure that security procedures are followed as appropriate and that confidential information for example, passwords, are not communicated to unauthorised individuals.
